Never seen one in person, but it's my guess that is what the 4mil donut is for.

Is the reticle useable on 3 power in dark timber? The fat part can be used to bracket vitals in low light at close range. The donut at 3x is not visible to me in low light. John

if it had an illuminated center it would work for me, but not the way it is. We can argue this until the cows come home I guess, some eyes are better than others.

cumminscowboy, a simple change to second focal plane would fix all the issues, but thats not tacticool. I don't get this FFP stuff. It was fine when we didn't have laser range finders, but this is no more than people trying to be "cool" like the big guys. I do commend Bushnell for jumping on the band wagon, though. My son-in-law is all into this zombie stuff. I've seen zombie ammo and at least one scope company with a zombie scope !

Have either of you used one? You're not going to interrupt my ignorant prejudice with a question are you ?

Without having a clue ( by choice) personally about this tactical scope stuff, Hodnett's Bushy HDMR rec is the one I'd go with.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

I use them for work (that reticle, not scope) and I use the HDMR on my PRS rifle. I would use the LRHS on my hunting gun though because of size and weight. It will be next optic purchase along with one of their LMSS spotters to replace my 12-40x60mm Leupold spotter with Gen2 Mil-Dot.

Have you done much side by side comparison between the LMSS and Leupold Mark 4 spotter? If you haven't I would suggest that you do, as the optics are lacking in comparison to the Leupold.

Rats! a gently used SHV has surfaced. It only weighs 28 ounces.

For a carry hunting rifle, I'd prefer a scope to come in at 20 ounces or less. I do realize that the new trend towards using a "tactical" scope for hunting rigs is gaining popularity and the extra weight is going to superior construction for reliability and accurate adjustments so folks needing dead on reliability and tracking is the trade off for light weight.
