A friend bought a whole bunch of M-80s at South of the Border. Took them home cut the ends off, poured three into one and got a real bang. He re-glued the cut off pieces and taped with tape with the nylon fibers in it.

50 gram max on non aireals.
Aireals would be best and loudest, thunderking and sky titans.
They have a base so you just need to nail them down and cover with a open pipe.

Yep, make them yourself.
7 Parts by weight of Potassium Perchlorate.
5 Parts by weight fine aluminum powder. German Black is the best.
Mix well.
Hard cardboard tube that can be bought from any model rocketry supply house.
Cannon fuse, wood dowel. Elmer's wood glue. Assemble.
Each M-80 takes 5 grams+, Each M-100 takes 10+ grams.
In some states you have now become a felon for manufacturing an IED.
Here its just a misdemeanor, unless you sell them. 500 dollar fine and up to 6 mos. in the free hotel.

Federal and State limits on flash powder is 50 milligrams. Not 50 grams. 2 ounces of flash powder makes a really BIG BOOM.

Just use your acetylene torch and empty pop bottles.
Drill a hole and caulk in the cannon fuse.
Set your torch for a proper burn and snuff out the flame with your hand.
A couple seconds gas mixture in the bottle then thread the lid on.

Set on fence post, light fuse, and get away.

ps
an inch or so of dirt in the bottom makes 'em easy to throw.

BTW.

NEVER use balloons or trash bags.
Static electricity can ruin your whole day.

A couple of guys, I used to work with back in the 90's made them themselves. They bought all the correct tubes and fuse bulk from a mail order company. I don't know whether they used black powder or flash powder but I do know they were plenty loud.

A neighborhood girl I knew back in high school wound up with pretty bad burns and lost a chunk of flesh from her thigh after unknowingly sitting down on an old fashion M-80 right as it exploded. A group of young teenage boys had wildly thrown it assuming it would land and explode in a public swimming pool they had just got kicked out of for horse-play. It didn't make it into the pool but landed short on a bench and exploded just as the girl was sitting down.

M80. I think they disappeared at the same time around here.

In my opinon the M-80 was a fair bit more powerful than the cherry bomb was. Both were plenty loud, though.

The loudest boom from fireworks I ever had anything to do with myself came from an M-80 stuffed inside of a tin cheese box about the width of an ordinary brick but not quite as long. We then stuck the cheese box inside of a decorative groove in a brick wall where it was an almost perfect fit. It was a window rattler! Pieces of ragged tin from the cheese box we found the next day had the same rough texture of the brick embossed deeply on them.

Drop a chunk of dry ice in a plastic pop bottle that's 1/2 full of water. Screw on lid quickly, and ....BEAT FEET !!!!!

I've heard this makes a really nice explosion. (GRIN!)

Fishing with m80's was a lot of fun, when we couldn't get m80's we made small pipe bombs to fish with.

Good Times.........

I had to lay the law down to my son back when he was in his early teens after I discovered that he and a couple of his buddies were making some seriously impressive exploding fireworks from ordinary legal sparklers and plastic electrical tape.

Ha Ha!! That was our MO, balloons in a trash bag, twist the end and light it. We put one in a locker outside the metal shop class. It blew the door off and into the chain link fence of the auto shop yard about 15 yards away and ruined about 10 lockers all around it. All the doors were jammed shut from the expansion.
