Looking for some options and pics of those who have had it done. I have an older Remington 700 action I am going to use for a build. At this point i realize i will have as much invested in this that i could of bought a custom but i like the action and have all the parts. i am looking to have it lightened for 2 reasons, to cut a little bit of weight, i already know its not going to be much but also for looks, this is a custom gun, and i do like the look. I dont own a ton of guns rather go all out on a few. Looking for any references that you guys might have. I know twisted barrel slabs the sides but i also like the rounded front ejection port like in this post https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...587/Lightened_Action_Pictures#Post313587http://twistedbarrel.com/custom-rifles/didnt know if there was anyone to look at, Karl used to but its off his website, i really like the looks of Rifles Inc but they dont just lighten action and i dont want holes ports etc milled in the action.

MG Arms http://mgarmsinc.com/MGA-Services.htmlThey can do what you want as much or as little milling as you ask. I have handled several MGA rifles and the work looks good. I would do it primarily for looks first and lightning second. If you really want to go light start with a lighter action.

I sent MG Arms 3 emails and a left 1 voice mail, got no response. Figured they didn't want my business on a stock so I went back to McMillan.
If you go with them I hope you have better luck with them responding to you than I did.

I talked to MG arms about 2 years ago and they quoted me around $600 to do the action lightening. That warfare more than I wanted to spend so I passed. I ended up slab siding the action with a hand file!

I ended up sending it over to Twisted Barrel, turn around was super quick Starting weight was 1lb 13.8 ounces Ended up at 1lb 8.7oz after twisted was finished, way more than expected My primary focus was looks and weight second but also didnt want to sink alot into the action, overall very pleased with results

Looks good. They also fluted the bolt? That's a LA...correct?
I'm thinking of sending a SA to them for the same slab treatment and engraving "GFY" on it.
My action is a donor for a 6x47L.

I will send my bolt to Kampfeld for the Ti treatment.
I have a Hunter's Edge stock waiting. Looking to see how light I can make it.

I have a Pac Nor Polygonal factory mountain rifle contour.
I just sent Twisted Barrel an email asking him a few questions. Wonder if anybody here has used him to install a barrel and chamber??
I asked him if he can do straight flutes in any length on a mtn rifle contour. I wouldn't mind if the flutes ended way before the muzzle with only the fatter part of the barrel fluted.
Also checked to see if he has a 6x47L reamer and if he can cut a custom throat per dummy rounds loaded with 105 Amax.
We'll see what he says.
