I really want to smack myself for this. I have earned three degrees in business including an MBA in Marketing. I'm in professional sales (as in, large scale b2b healthcare software applications). I'm sensitive as can possibly be to marketing, manipulation, and button pushing and I really don't miss a darn trick. Lord help the tele-markers who call me... So why the heck am I so damn hung up on "needing" a scope with turrets and ranging dots??!!? I'm thinking I need to rescope my .375 H&H because...the Leica #1 on it doesn't have an elevation turret? Or that I'm going nuts thinking I NEED a new scope on my Merkel 9.3x74 because I'm just sure I'll be sniping some Elk at 500+ with a double rifle using a 286gr. bullet at 2250 fps. I mean, Holy Freaking Rainbows, right? I'm thinking to myself, when was the LAST time I really needed that second dot on my VX6 2-12 LR Duplex? Actually, that was at the range...ringing steel. In the field? My longest shot to date is 287 yards. Marginal holdover on a Kudu...My mountain goat was shot at 97 yards...my Sitka was at 57 and 197, respectively (two deer). Why, oh why am I losing my religion over "needing" a VX6 with a turret? I fecking hate marketers. And I have these damn Cabela's points burning a hole in my pocket...and a $50 buck coupon... Losing. My. Mind.

Take the Cabela's points and buy ammo or reloading components. Would you rather pull the trigger or spin an elevation dial?

I hear you rnovi. My hunting experience is much like yours....CDS dials "dialed in and on the money" when the wind cooperates, but of the 4 biggest muley bucks I've shot, farthest has been 175 yds. I'll justify my "need" for one with the "it's there when/if I need it, and conditions warranty it" mentality. Plus, its tons of fun when shooting targets, 'yotes, hogs, or such.
Love Cabelas, and have lots of their points to spend as well.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

At last count (aka, last night) I had over 600 .257 bullets, 700 6.5mm bullets, 2,000 7mm bullets...a bunch (aka, lots) of .308's (*for Wounded Warrior reloads), at least 900 9.3's and 1,400 .375's. For once in my life I actually agree with my wife. I actually don't need any more bullets for, well, at least a year. Maybe. I do love obsessing this craziness. It's fun as can be.

Thanks JG. I'm glad my insanity isn't alone.
There's a time to market...and a time to hunt. I'm hitting Alaska in Sept. It's time to hunt.

Hype? No hype about it. But then there are a few on here that think anything twisted fast is hype.

My Brother went out and bought a 338 lapua and loaded up a ballistic bullet that numerically speaking would kill any friggin thing on the planet.
He then packed the 18 lb beast afield and kilt his elk at 100 yds.

Shod, TFF. As hunters, we continually try to complicate things. And, we've gotten pretty good at it.

In that case, and because you're looking to buy a scope for a 375 H&H, I suggest you think of your 375 as an over-grown 30-06 and scope it accordingly. A good 6x scope with an elevation turrets would work nicely.

It is hype if the only purpose for ones rifle is to go kill a deer. Some shoot rifles year around at varying distances for recreation and practice then shoot animals during season.
I haven't shot with anyone who went back to all factory stuff zeroed "lil high" at 100 after shooting all this hyped up stuff.

You do realize that once you make the purchase you will notice your beard is growing thicker and you may also have a little more chest hair. You already look taller... But really this is just what comes with figuring out you acutally want to be a man today! And once you fight off all the women and and eat the flesh off something you will now be able to accomplish what very few lesser men have been able to accomplish in life.
That's all... But it's totally up to you!
Do it!!!
I was in sales...

Your problem is really quite simple. You either have TOO much money...or a high tollerance for debt.

I hate trees. He's welcome to come shoot out here any time. Worlds largest rifle range. Travis
