Ongoing old native customs out this way are much more sensible and ecologically sound - creamate bodies on a big pile of flaming wood or put them up on a stand where the flying scavengers can deal with them.

Ya got to remember that they did not have shovels Yet, much less a backhoe. miles

I have chosen the former, although the big pile of flaming wood probably would not fly. My wife would prefer the latter, but we don't think that the powers that be would allow it, either. She is opting instead for no embalming and a simple pine coffin (that will probably last a lot longer than she would like in our arid climate.)

Stuff you think seriously about as we age...

Well Crap!!! I'm not going to be able to make it this year! I spent over $7 K today on a new AC unit for the house!
So there goes all my traveling and fun money for a while! Sure was looking forward to meeting every one. Guess it'll have to be next year. Hope everyone has a great time!

The weather looks good for next weekend if the rains keep off. Friday and Saturday are 50/50 for rain with temps in the middle 70s.
We'll see what we get.

Paul you getting showers in the afternoons?

Yep - shower almost every afternoon - fairly green up here. This afternoon we had 3/4 inch of rainfall in about 90 minutes. Good stuff - but I did forget to bring soap.

Making a list and checking it twice... Yep, just like a little kid at Christmas.

Cant wait to get started. Been pulling out stuff we'll need for the trip.

But, I'm beginning to think like Blue, "Do I need all this stuff?"

Reloaded a few bullits today, dining room floor is full of stuff (Rattlesnake just rolled her eyes and picked her way thru)

Gonna finish getting eveythng together tomorrow, pack the truck Sunday and pull out early Monday.

Cant wait to see old friends and will get to meet new ones.

Got me a new Turkish carpet for my tent!!!!! I forgot to get another bottle of absinthe so I'll pick it up in the morning. Then I'll hit the grocery store one more time again.

Randy, I'm leaving around midnight Monday night/Tuesday morning. So I'll see you when I get there. I think I got everything!

Kent - do you need any food items? If all of the peripherals are covered (plates, bowls, utensils, drink cups, paper towels, garbage bags, grill/fuel, etc., etc., etc, and you still have folks wanting to know what to bring - someone might want to think "dessert" for an evening dinner. For example, Maddy and I have everything for the main part of Friday evening dinner, but no dessert plan.

You guys driving the long miles and trying to escape home early, take your time - be safe.

All - the afternoon/evening rains have continued and our part of the forest is looking really good. The A021 road has been muddy in places and one little creek was running across it a day ago. There are about 7 RV units at the campground this weekend and some of those guys were in 4wd and fishtailing trying to drag the larger rigs in. Good news is that the road dries fairly quickly with some sun and breeze - if we get a break in the rain the road should be fine for your entree. First ones in should give fair warning to any "non-campfire" folks who might wander into there - let 'em know there will be beehive activity, many campers, and a big bunch of shooting on Fri/Sat/and some of Sun.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
