.. . . . .and even if not manipulated, it looks more like a Roosevelt elk than a Rocky Mountain, as does the background, like a rain forest area.

........and all the points are perfect with no breaks, scratches or anything. Perfect color from tip to tip. Yup, photoshop or "pet" elk, but still fabulous! Flinch

hmmmm.... now that you mention it, that rack does sorta remind me of John Madden's Thanksgiving turkey. You know, the one with the extra drumsticks.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Take a close look at the outline of the guy kneeling directly behind the bull. The photo has been doctored in some fashion...

Don't know about the photo shopping, I'm no expert on that. However, I will say it looks pretty "clean" for a free range bull.

After taking a closer look, I don't believe photo is legit. I'm guessing a pen raised bull and rack "photo shoped" to a hunting photo.

Idaho produces some good bulls, but nothing of that class.

Hope I'm wrong..........

My guess is that elk is a pen raised. And that doesn't look like the Selway to me...

The only thing that will produce a real rack like that is genetic manipulation. If that thing is real, it's on a game farm.

Note the area I've circled. If you look close, there's a perfectly vertical straight line there where at least 2 points have been added.

Photo shop if you ask me, the hunters (?) look too rested and to clean. and there is no blood.

The lack of blood doesn't bother me. It was supposedly a bow kill. A quartering shot on the far side wouldn't leave any blood visible from the front.

Here's something else to consider. A rack like that would have to weight over 50lb. What's holding it up?

r.o.t.r.

Very good point. It looks alot like the Wapiti/Red Deer crosses in New Zealand. In fact, with that crown on the left horn I'd almost bet my left nut that you nailed it!!

I've seen this picture before and I keep thinking the animal looks like it had a bath and was brushed for the picture.

Makes me think "game farm".

I was watching a mature bull tonight at RMNP. All antler tips were white because of tree rubbing. This one, no white tips at all. I'd bet Photoshop, unless all of his testosterone went into antlers and none was left for bull behavior...

Dang technology. What happened to the day when you could trust someone and not have to be skeptical about a picture? It is a greta elk but as many state, seems to good to be true. Why, you ask?? Because if that was me, you would see a big ol' Sh-- eatin' grin on my face and there would be no doubt...!!
