How stout are the Remington 6.5mm/.264 dis 140 gr Core-Lokts? I think I remember Mule Deer saying Remington changed the manuf tech some 20 years back and the newer ones don't have the older, thicker jacket.

Shot quite a few mule deer with them. At .264 WM velocities, I'd venture that 1/2 of them never left an exit wound. Tracking was never necessary, though. Fast killer.

To add, on the ones that didn't exit, you will find them on the off side hide.

Not very. I had three in factory 260 loads come unwound on small whitetails. Broadside rib shot on one little buck produced no exit and a shotgun pattern of fragments in the offside ribs was the only thing left. Another one blew to bits on a neck vertebrae and left a softball sized hole on the entry side. The last one I used was a Texas heart shot on a wounded buck and it blew up and failed to penetrate the pelvis.
These were all launched out of an 18.5" barreled M7 and none of the deer weighed over 150 on the hoof. Not confidence inspiring to me.

Pretty soft, they work okay on deer, but since you posted in the elk forum I assume you're thinking of using them for that purpose. For that, they are very lacking IMO.

Daughter murdered a decent sized bull moose in BC in 2013 with a 260 Remington 140 Grain Core Lokt factory loads and a 5 point bull elk here in Colorado with the same load and rifle last year. Sure killed hell out of both of them. Moose bedded after the shot and needed a close up finisher in the back of the noggin. Elk was toast.

I read an article by Craig Boddington where he used the .260/140 rem pspcl factory loads on a variety of african game and couldnt catch one bullet.

Don't know about the ones they put in the 260 Rem factory cartridges but the ones loaded in the 264 Win Mag were 2 diameter, .264" behind the cannuelure and .257 in front of it until the beginning of the ogive. Most 264's have a real short throat and both WW and Rem engaged in this perversion. Magnum Man

Don't know about the CL's but a 140 Speer HC from a 260 is a very clever/deadly design!-Muddy
