The car is a 58 Plymouth. did the lift make a couple groaning noises trying to lift it....damn thing weighs the about the same as a the new 3/4 ton trucks?

Noticeably lighter than a late model pickup truck on the lift. I was surprised.

Technically, that's not a car - It's a Plymouth. Girl I went to HS with had one like that. Motor mounts kinda went south on it, she'd flog hell outta it and it would quit sometimes. IIRC the distributor bounced off'n the firewall and knocked the cap off? Too long ago to recollect. But a buddy and I fixed it for her, each got a new shirt and a kiss. Do remember that part?  Had to check in to see what youse did to pizz that Rolly feller off?
