i just got a 375 ruger guIde gun w a 20 inch barrel. I was looking at either a 250 or 270 grain Barnes tsx. I figure that a 270 would be better for dangerous game. But for deer, which would have less meat damage and flatter shooting? I dont think it will make much of a difference. And i think that if a 270 grain Is good for deer, it should be my only load that i will need since it can take big game.

I use a 270gr Speer at 2400fps in a 9.3x62. I love the no more excessive jelled blood or meat damage like I use to get with other chamberings. If you were to not drive either of those bullets too fast I would guess you'd get the same results.

Unless you need a flat trajectory for long shots, you might want to consider loads in the .38/55-.375 Win range. Easy on brass and your shoulder and a hammer on game. A cup and core should be fine and save you some bucks (dollars, that is). If the dangerous game you mention is also in the area you hunt deer in, then full power loads make sense, of course.

Nice rifle.

Run a cheap hornady 270 @ 2500. You'll kill any deer you hit.
About 62 grains of imr4895 will get you there.
I've find steel out to 300 with the bullet, doubt any ungulate on this continent could survive one.

I killed a whitetail buck last fall with my 375 Ruger, I run the Alaskan model. I shoot a 270 Horndy with RL15 at 2600+. I hit the buck through the lungs, slightly quartered away at an estimated range of 140ish yards. He took off running down the ridge spraying blood out of both holes. It was neat to watch. He made it about 70 yards.

The 270 Hornady works well on elk as well.

The 250 Sierra would likely be a good deer bullet as well.
