So some 17 year old kid inherits his greatgrandfather's WWII bring-back Winchester Garand, doesn't know what he's got, and decides he's going to cut it up to make it more "CQB". If you're not a member of BladeForums, sign up - it's worth it just to see this thread.

found gun, please help id

NO, I can't even stand the thought of it.

what a tragedy. he could have sold it and bought any piece of junk he wanted to hack up or be more CQB...

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

When your ship comes in. ... make sure you are willing to unload it.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.

Kids today have no respect for collectables. Hence why I don't like modifying any of my guns. Les

Hasn't anyone pulled him in yet?

Close Quarters Battle, irritates the hell out of me that some punk kid wants to do that with a Garand. Les

OMG- OMG that sort of thing makes me actively sick. To butcher an old war horse should be a hanging offense.

I cried when I saw, at a local gun show, a P08 all matching, byf 42 that some idiot had tried to make a hide out gun by taking a hacksaw to the barrel.

edited to add I could be wrong about the code and date as it was some time ago and I just wanted to bury the old girl in a decent ceremony.

quote:

"i own 9 m1 garands including a NM springfield, 2 HRs and 2 winchesters, a whole slew of 03s, 03a3s and carbines. the gun pictured is actually 3 guns, the first "found" gun is a HR. the reciever picture of course is one of my winchester garands, and the "sanded garand" is a ww2 era springfield with a bad barrel. its a wall hanger that i made from spair junk parts.

we had this idea after one of my correct HRs blew up at the range on saturday, as far as we can tell the round was double loaded. ive had the reciever checked and the gun is now setting in a new stock good as new. the stock and forward hand guard were a total loss how ever, that was alittle bit of a pain because that was one of the rare offcenter HR stocks that were put on a few of them before the supplyer lost there contract, ive seen worse condition counterparts sell on gunbroker for 500+. the stock was cracked from the front to the back. infact the only thing holding the gun togeather when we cut the stock was the front band, we had to do a repair with elmers school glue. i almost posted the first picture, that would have toasted me right off the bat. and before any one gets the atf down my neck the gun was 10 inches longer than national and state law AND the stock was destroyed after the pictures were taken."

We are so quick to defend our right to do what we will with our own property. "I don't want anyone telling me what to do with my land/house/taxes/vote/gun/etc, but let someone "defile' a 'classic war rifle', and we are ready to castrate the lad. Such consistancy of point of view is amazing.
What the fellow does with his Garand is his own business. Period.

Reminds me of what a Norwegian friend told me about his view of Americans: They are very emphatic on two rights. First is the right to be left alone by everyone, and the second is the right to interfere with everyone else at will.

Hmm. Maybe this is why you dislike libertarians so strongly: secretly, you are one!

In many respects, I am, but I am NOT one of the conspiracy theory obsessed whack jobs that seems to portray 'libertarianism ' to the world online.

Have "modified" a few 03a3's and Swede 96's, myself. Didn't think any of it was a hanging offense. Back in those days with the availability of cheap surplus rifles, that's how a lot of folks were able to afford a sporter for hunting.

Hate to see a good collector be chopped up, but like the man said - if it belongs to you, you pretty much have the right to do what you want with it.

BTW - solid Republican!

I think it is all a joke, when you click on one of the pics it takes you to a photo storage, and when you click on the posters name some of his other pics come up.
