Screw it down tight, the fingers will go inside the collar almost to the end of the outer sleeve. Should turn to just past full choke when all the way in, then back off to the choke that you want. These things are very useful, I have them on several of my guns. Should you need help, polychoke is still alive and well and I have used their tech staff before. Ryan

thanks, I did that and used a caliper to check the different settings yesterday. It changes somewhere around .030 from full to #1. That was one complete turn. Then I went to the range and tried it. It does work great. I would guess most people just do not like the look. Not as clean for sure.

It takes using one in the field to overcome their looks. Good luck with your 16, great gun and I have come to really enjoy my 16 gauges too. Ryan

man, I have a hard time getting used to the safety being on the front of the finger guard. I am used to the cross lock so that really slows me down. and the birds seem to know it.

TB, is yours marked Sweet16 on the receiver? If you want to date the year of mfg. post ser.#,x out the last few digets, and I can probably come close to the DOM. Regards, Byron

yogi, the safety is on the front of the trigger gaurd. You have to push your finger ahead then pull the trigger. I will get the serial number later today. I do not think it says Sweet 16. Maybe it is just a 16 gage auto?

That sounds like the Remington or Savage made versions of the A5?

tbjohn, sorry for the delay. Senior moment. Your browning A5 was mfg. in 1949. It should be the standard weight A5. All "Sweet 16's" are so marked on the receiver. Sweet 16 production started in 1953. Regards, Byron

Yogibear. No problem, thanks for the information. The only thing I am not that crazy about is the safety on the front of the trigger gaurd. That is taking a bit of getting used to. The poly choke works real nice. I am tempted to have one put on my light A-5 in a 20 gage.

It's my favorite of all time. Finger forward as you bring the gun up, pull back to take the bird. Nothing better, once you get used to it.

That is good advise. It pushes a little hard. Maybe some lubrication. I need to go and try that. I need to get it to the point that I do not have to think about it.
