Been looking for a CZ 455 Varmint to serve as a poor man's target rifle. Was in Lincoln/Omaha area for a few days earlier this week and made the rounds of all the local sources as well as the occasional pawn shop. Even PM'ed Darrick at Whittakers. He had one in .22 WMR, but I wanted a .22 LR for the availability of match ammo.
As I headed home today, I stopped off in Kearney to check out the Cabelas there--my favorite one. (It looks and feels like an outdoors/gun store, not a theme park.) All I bought was some bullets that I needed that they had on sale. Headed back through town, I saw an LGS and decided to stop in. He had lots of new guns, but I didn't see any CZs.
After he finished with the previous customer, I asked if he stocked CZs. He allowed as how he did, but he had only one right now, a .22. i asked if I could see it. He pulled out a brand new 455 Varmint in .22 LR! We haggled a bit and it left with me. And it is sleeping at the foot of my bed here in the motel in Raton, NM, tonight.
Can't wait to get it scoped and try some of the Eley target and match ammo that I picked up at the Cabelas in Sidney as I went by.

I went by a lgs the other day. they had a .22 Varmint 452 w/steel rings. they were asking $400 and it was like new. went by a few days later and it was gone.
let us know how yours shoots.

Mudhen, Glad you found what you are looking for.. I have 2 CZ's and love them both.. My .22 is a 452 with sights and a fairly long barrel a training rifle I think.. Bought it used and it is the best shooting of all my .22's
I would love to find a 452 with a full length stock in .22mag or even .22 LR.. I guess the mag would be my first choice.. Enjoy.. Pictures????

Sorry for the delay in replying to comments and questions. When I finally returned home Friday evening, my internet was down. Turned out that a group of javelinas had rooted up the phone line and the fiber optic cable about 1/4 mile south of the house, chewing up both pretty thoroughly. Finally got the internet restored just this morning. Gus, I am going to use either Talley rimfire rings or Warne rimfire rings. Here is a picture I snapped last weekend.

I've had good luck with Warne rings and CZ rimfires.

Nice!! Revenge coming for those javelinas???? I can't shoot to the south as there are a couple of houses and some horse corrals well within rifle range. They are a game animal. The season is January 1st to March 31st, and the tags are issued via the big game drawing. When they come up around our place, I do occasionally have to shoot one to protect the dogs. They typically depart in haste and avoid coming around again for several months to sometimes more than a year.
