I've noticed that hardly anything is said about Burris scopes on this forum. I just bought a 3x9 Fullfield II with the ballistic plex reticle and it seems like a nice scope as it is very bright compared to a few other scopes i own such as Leupold, Weaver, and Redfield. I figured with the lifetime warranty i would try one. I have heard that some of the older ones didn't stand recoil very well but i'm hoping that their newer ones are better. Any thoughts? Swede96.

Pentax is made by Burris and I had a friend brown bear hunting on Kodiak with me this spring with a Pentax scope and it failed at exactly the wrong time. Little pieces of glass could be seen moving around inside.

Burris makes a good scope. One of the top makers. But, I hear too many complaints about them not holding up.
The new ones I don't know. I do note that John Barsness, in Field & Stream's Deer Guide 2001, gave them the thumbs up along with Sightron, Weaver Grand Slam, Bushnell's 4000 series, the Leupold VarXIII, and the US made Swarovski.
If you are in that company, you can't be too bad. E
I have the same model 3x9 Fullfield II. I got it last year when on sale at Bear Basin. What caught my inttest is the fact that it is fully multi coated on the lenses. At about the same time I also got a Bushnell 4200 1.5x6.
I do not have any really 'hard kickers' as my biggest kickers are the 8mm-06's. The Burris FF II sits atop a Savage 111F in 257 Roberts. The scope is as good as the Vari X III in the field so far. Last year the rifle and scope were on 'loan' to a friend for his first time dear hunting. He collected a nice four pointer and one doe with no troubles. To my eyes from moring to sunset it compares very very close to the Leupold VariX III I have in optics.

Bottom line, I am happy with the money I spent and the scope does what it claimed to.

Pick: Glad you have had good luck with your's, I agree that the optics are stunning and the article by Barsness in Rifle magazine is what steered me this way. If it holds together on "normal" rifles, i.e. Not a 450 groundenshaker, I think for the money you can't go wrong. Maybe Burris has pulled it together in ruggedness. Thanks for the reply, Keep in touch! Roland.
