Barnes TTSX VS. Hornady GMX?
I am looking for real world experience from hunters that have compared the two, especially in the area of stopping performance. I have taken plenty of game with each in .280 Rem and .308 Win. It seems to me with my experimentation of both, the GMX does a better job at expanding and creates a bigger wound channel. Which do you prefer and why?
It's a beautiful day, Don't let it get away!!!

Shot lots of things with the TSX/TTSX, only one elk with the GMX. Everything died and ate well. Not much of a sample for the GMX, but it sure put that cow down quick.

If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

I've Only ever killed stuff with the Barnes. I've loaded GMX's but they never shot as tight a groups for me as the Barnes. If I am required or asked to shoot non-lead bullets, I first look for Barnes. If I can't find it, I look for eTips and finally GMX's. If by chance I can't find any non-lead bullets... I politely ignore the request.
Remember, not everyone has a happy ending, so be happy when you can

From my questions to Hornady and barnes I concluded that the Barnes will open up more reliably at lower speeds. For example according to both companies the 375 250 ttsx will open at 1800 fps. The 250 gmx needs 2000 and 2200 is much better

I have very little experience with GMX and extensive experience with Barnes. IME Barnes is as accurate as any bullet and work reliably. Plus they are on their 3rd generation of non-lead bullets. If I can't get a Barnes to shoot I try others. That has happened to me twice, once it turned out to be a bad barrel, the other time it was my 375 that for some reason does not like 250gr bullets of any manufacturer. Let your rifle decide
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor
