I have no personal experience. But I know one person who installed it and he really likes it. Much better interface than previous version. The privacy issue is interesting and worth looking into further though.
I read that it can shut down software that it deems in violation of the software agreement
so I'm fine with Windows 7 for now.
btw, any device with voice control that can access the internet is going to be "on" whenever - this is especially true of smart TVs or streaming devices.
Easily manipulated to hear whatever is going on in your home and stream it to the internet.

Yes, it really is that bad. Instead of "opting in" to allow Microsoft to track your every click, word, browsing, and compiling a complete profile on your life, they make you "opt out".
It takes a while to go through and "opt out" of some of the spyware that is installed in the name of "assisting and enhancing your computer experience" and then you will probably NOT get all of it.

Let's be realistic. Your current OS and browser already mines your every internet click for marketable info. Hackers can already watch and listen to you (if you have a monitor with a camera/mic.)
Win10 can indeed block pirated/stolen software. And why shouldn't it? You'd applaud this feature if you were a software maker.
If you strenuously object to Win10, you can switch to something like Ubuntu, or you can plan on using your current device/system until it dies - and then abandon the internet.

I do not understand why people use Windows or any Microsoft product unless they absolutely have to. I have to use it part time for two pieces of software that Microsoft controls. I try to use that computer without going on line and only transfer files in and out on a USB drive.

software makers aren't the consumer of the OS though, users are.

I did all the opt-outs and I like Windows 10 much better than Windows 8 or prior, except for the Edge browser. I did the same thing with an iPhone by turning off a lot of the "features". The reality is that we give a ton of information to Internet service providers, cell phone providers, banks and credit card companies on a daily basis, all for the sake of convenience. There really is not much stopping the use and exchange of the information.
