Someone in another thread about stock texture asked me to post results on my latest little project. I bought a B&C Alaskan Wilderness stock for my Model Seven Remington, and was never quite happy...it seemed "chubby" compared to their other Ti Clones...I measured it against a Ti and sure enough it was.... Being too cheap to fork out the $$$$ for a Manners or another McMillan, I decided it was hoof rasp/ Rattle can Rembrandt time Stock as original..... Gonna be hard to see the dimensional difference....but the forend isn't as wide, the wrist isn't as wide, and the comb has been lowered.... Paint is made to adhere to plastic, spray webbing used for texture between coats, Krylon webbing on surface, and a couple coats of satin finish clear fixative... You gotta trust me...it feels better even if you can't see the difference! Just imagine how cool that rifle would be if you rebarreled it to a .27 x 45. Maybe call it the .270 Ingwe Thong.

Yep...the front end of the comb got moved back a skosh and reshaped with a Dremel. The wrist dimensions were pretty well right top to bottom, the width of the thing was the issue...it was like a cankle....

I think you could probably shave a bunch off the foreend on those things and then use fiberglass cloth to reshape. I had the foreend hollowed out too much by a gunsmith on one of my builds and the forrend became flexible. He cut thru the kevlar reinforcing strip that stock came with.

What's next a "skookum here and a skosh there with a little cankle removed somewhere."

Get your Campfire terminology right! Take a skosh off the cankle and it'll be skookum.....

Exactamundo... When the butt is resting against your cheek and the cankle is under your nose, a slimmer wrist in the right spot helps cheek weld....
wait....what?

I like a firm butt. A good grip is essential.

Length of pull,bedding.... Lots to cover there... not to mention cyclic rate of fire.....
