Has anyone used one of these. It seems to be a decent value and its primary use would be at the range. Does anyone have suggestions for a decent spoting scope in the $300 range?

avagadro, I've been looking at spotting scopes and seeking information for a while now. The goal is to get a good spotter that I'll be happy with for a long time. As to the Landmark, I'd give the good folks at Bear Basin a call. They sell the Landmark as well a several other spotters. I won't quote them since I do not wish to erroneoulsy characterize what was said but they were quite helpful and offerred what I considered to be a fair evaluation. While looking to upgrade, I bought a Swift Panther spotter for $100 on the basis of farily positive reviews on the birdwatcher sites. It has been a good deal and quite capable of spotting even small caliber bullet holes out to 200 yards. I still want a good spotting scope and am saving diligently for an 82mm Kowa. For $300, one of the smaller Kowa's might be the best deal.

Avagadro: You might want to check out the Wind River spotters by Leupold. They are 100% waterproof and in 15x45x60 should be a great scope assuming that the optics are there. I know that the binoculars are getting great reviews on the birding sites. I am thinking about one of these myself unless i find something better for the money. The birding sites are the best place i have found to look up the performance of optics because these people are really serious about what they carry. A great site is : Better View Desired . I think that is the name. Check them out, I learned alot in a short time. Roland.
