Has anyone used one of the zen-ray spotting scopes? What are your thoughts on these? Thanks.

They get excellent reviews. They would be on my short list for a spotter but only make an angled.

I been using an ED2. Swapped my Nikon 82mm Fieldscope out for it because I wanted to be able to run a reticle eyepiece (the Zen Ray accepts the Vortex Razor eyepieces, I have the MRAD one).
First off, the ED2 isn't the top of the Zen Ray line. My used sample isn't as sharp as my Nikon was, though my Nikon was about the sharpest spotter I've ever looked through. It doesn't have as nice a view as a Swarovski I compared it to either, though my Nikon WAS better than the Swaro's I've used.
I do find it to be quite "good enough" for what I do, the reticle was more important to me than the last 10% of image quality, as I use it to call corrections when shooting more than I do to stare at animals. I did have to switch from a straight eyepiece (my preference) to the angled eyepiece, and the transition hasn't bothered me as much as I expected.
If I needed an 82mm sized spotter for hunting only, I feel the Nikon I had would be the better choice, though only if you can find it at used pricing. At the $800 or so Cameraland wants for a Zen Ray, it isn't a bad piece of glass.
Empirical results rule!
