Great content, but getting to be to frustrating to even check anymore. Locked up explorer and foxfire repeatedly tonight. Haven't they made enough money to upgrade?

Try cleaning out your cookies, running something like ccleaner, mand logging in again.

Blairvt: I have NO idea what you are talking about?
This site has worked perfectly for me going on 13 years now.
Maybe a new or more powerful computer would alleviate what ever problems you are having?
Good luck and I hope you don't miss out on any of the fun.

P.S.: Additional... I use AOL as my service maybe that would help you?

I get lots of crashes on my mobile with FF with adblock, especially if the page has embedded youtube videos.

I have been here 9 years never had a problem....Just run AD block and it will be smooth sailing. Now if you are on dial up forget it and take up reading....I tried to log in from a dialup one time no go.

I've been trying out SRWare's Iron browser. It's Chrome but with the ability to track stripped out. It uses Chrome's add-on's. So far it's been working very well - and Adblock is flawless.

With adblock it works well, without it was terrible.

The main issue, I think, is that the JavaScript on many of the pages never terminates. That causes a number of UX problems: browsers caught in infinite loops aren't terribly responsive.

A workaround is to wait until the page seems to have finished loading, the click the X button near the URL box to make it stop loading. Then it should behave until you hit the next page, whereupon you'll have to do it again.

That's a good way to restrict membership to mostly only current members, but not a good way to attract new traffic.

New users who have to install a special browser plugin to get an experience they should have straight out of the gate will in large numbers stay away. We found that out, among other things, with Java applets, with JavaWS, and with Flash.

I was having major problems as well, but the loving environment and nurturing tendencies of the membership here made me strong enough to bear it.

Never mind, that wasn't the 'fire. I used Adblock plus for Chrome to deal with the chit here.
