Acquired my first Weatherby eyebrow today blush!

Shooting my CZ FS 550 9.3X62 to cure a re-application of Dyna Bore Coat.

I'd shot at and hit a couple of water-filled milk jugs at about 250 yds. (paced) from my portable bench rest and because I was feeling a little smug then tried a couple of shots from sitting - which missed - so I got into the sling and snuggled up to the rifle, touched one off, killed the milk jug and my eyebrow!

The tool used for the eyebrow surgery!

The scope is a Leupold 3X20 Big Bore with the post and cross hair reticle. I simply got too close and paid the price! I've been slightly bumped several times; especially when using a sling or crossed sticks but never drew blood until today!

p.s. I was wearing my "Rifle Looney Hat" but even that does not protect you from doing something stupid!

Guess you'll be sliding the scope up the remaining half inch laugh

Haven't done it since a youngin but it surely doesn't feel any batter.

Surprises the crap out of you don't it?
Hurts a little too...
Bought a rifle off GB a few years ago. When I first shouldered it, it felt a little short but I'm a terrible stock crawler and my other rifles all have a 14"LOP. Mounted up a scope and shot it and WHAM! Turns out somebody had cut it down to 12 1/2"LOP.
I've since added a couple of spacers and learned my lesson. DOH!

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

I'd suffer a scar from that rifle as well! My buddy got one of those a couple weeks ago from an 06. He was sheep hunting and was trying to get a second shot in his ram the extreme uphill angle caused his.

taylorforce1, at least your friend got a great trophy for his trouble.

All I got was a smaller cut and a dead milk jug! The latter is not even in the same universe as his ram.

I'm confused.
Where does the Weatherby part come in?

Fluffy,

I remember reading an article where Ed Weatherby said his father was always making fun of others who hit their eye with the scope. Then Roy managed to do it by slipping off a log as he shot at an animal. Perhaps that is where it started.

I prefer Col Jeff Cooper's term: "the Kaibab eye".

We always just referred to it as " The Mark of the Crescent Moon"...

I don't give Weatherby much credit for anything. grin

Have a TC Encore in 405 win thats a thumper. Took a Blacktail buck from behind a tree and crawled the stock to take the shot. Property manager took a look and commented who bleed more me or the deer.
