Can someone try and explain what action the FN made bolt gun is made on? McMillan says that they have inletting for M70 Super Short action but they aren't familiar with the FN USA (Ultra Short Action) that FNH used in their .223 bolt gun.
Not sure I want to go with that rifle if inletting a stock is going to be a nightmare.

So if I were to ask for a WSSM inletting the FN rifle would fit?

Are you going to be able to find reloading components for the short fat little thing???? If not, start looking for a .223 rem instead.. JMHO..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

FN marked it as an Ultra short action in the .223 variant. From what I could find winchester only made 3 sizes in the action so I don't think they would reinvent the wheel just for a .223rem action. If I call FN I'm hoping they will tell me what action it is. If I can't get a stock inlet for it it's game over the that rifle.

WSSM, so it seems... Push feed and MOA trigger to boot... I've seen them sell for $600-$700.00...

My M70 HV in .223 is based on a regular short action spacing, but the scope base is from a WSSM model spacing. The mag box has a spacer in the back to accommodate the shorter round and bolt travel. Similar to the older long actions chambered in short action calibers. Measure your bolt spacing and see if it matches up with either of the three listed at the bottom of this page: http://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/ctgy/winchester-model-70-information

How many rounds down tube, I may be interested in it if you pass or dont like it, It makes for a good truck gun!v best winpoor

It is in the green Houge stock.
I talked to FN yesterday and they did confirm it is built on the Winchester Super Short Magnum action.

I'm trying to justify the gun VS odd action size ect. over a standard short action .243 vs 22-250

I may be wrong but I think the gun we are talking about has the real Winchester trigger, not the MOA deal! v best winpoor

It's looking like I will be thinking hard about getting this gun VS a more weight friendly brush gun. It is the same system as my other hunting guns so I like that idea. Ughhhhh

I'm thinking of tossing in the towel as the FN TSR as a .223 utility set up. The scope mount holes are not the same as standard M70 and even the low rings seems to get the scope too high for non 50mm bell size. The FN .223 is just not a hunting utility type set up no matter how hard I try and make it be one
