It's pretty thick here at home, so about the only places you can stretch things out are gas line ROWs or timber clearings. I hunt ROWs a good bit and one real problem is the time allowed for the shot, things happen in mere seconds. There's no glassing, ranging, etc like when I hunt open areas in other states, so it takes a little different approach. In recent years I've become fond of fast carts for the task such as the 257Wby or a 300WM pushing 130TTSXs quite fast. The ability to hold on hair to 400 just makes things much easier: The next rifle for the task is a 7STW that Robert Gradous is wrapping up this week. Last night I put together several loads and first up to bat are 120TTSXs: It should sting our little ole whitetails a bit This is my first go with the STW and hopefully she'll be a shooter. I'll post up some pics when the new rig lands. Hopefully I'll be able to get a little blood on the new rig when pullit, slg388, and I head to TX next month. Fellow STW shooters, what are some of your favorite combos? After browsing the books yest eve, I'm starting with 120TTSXs, 150NBTs, R17, R22, R25, 7828, and H4831. Have a good one, loder

I'm betting that will shoot flat! Good luck and can't wait to hear how it does for you.

I'll eventually get around to a pile of various pills such as VLDs and Sierras to see what it will do on paper, but time is limited for now. Hopefully the light TTSXs, NBTs, or NABs will do for my upcoming hunt.

I shoot nothing but 7828 in mine, with 150s and 160s.

Man that thing is going to be a hammer, can't wait to see what it will do.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

My only experience with the 7STW was one a friend had on an elk hunt in Colo. One of our other hunting party had wounded a bull and I spotted it in the scrub oak across a canyon. It was a lasered 425 yards and we had no way of getting closer without spooking it. My buddy with the STW took the shot as I spotted for him. At the shot I swear that elk rotated 90 degrees on his longitudinal axis and just dropped stone dead. Pretty impressive.
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor

The NBT out of the 7mm STW will make soup out of a whitetail. Wouldn't be my choice for thin skinned animals at those velocities.

Rutting whitetails and power lines/pipeline ROW's are a recipe for sudden appearances, fast exits, and a lack of time.
Flat trajectory is your friend.
You wait a year,it's over in seconds.....if you're ready.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

Thanks guys! Keep it coming. Tony, What kind of speeds are you seeing? Rutting whitetails and power lines/pipeline ROW's are a recipe for sudden appearances, fast exits, and a lack of time.
Flat trajectory is your friend.
You wait a year,it's over in seconds.....if you're ready. You got that right Bob. You have to live it to realize it. Many times you can't even touch your gun b4 it's over.

My 7mm STW is pure poison with the Nosler 140 Accubond
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Mine is a Rem 700 action with a Sako extractor and a Hart barrel in a Mcmillan stock.
It likes Rl 22 ( around 78.0gr ) under that TTSX 120 seated at the bottom of the last (top) groove of the bullet. (looks like where yours is seated by the pic) Shoots under an inch.
Have not shot it over the chrony.
Don't shoot Nosler Ballistic tips at those velocities unless you like being elbow deep in stomach contents and bloodshot meat.

Thank you Sir.
Have you tried the 120s on deer sized critters?
I feel it should be somewhat similar to my results with .308 130TTSXs at 3560 from one of my WMs.

I will let you know about on game performance this weekend. This is a new load for me and I intend to use it on a whitetail Saturday when Georgia opens its deer season.
Like you, I have used the 130 TTSX in my '06 and in my son's 300 WSM with great results on deer and hogs. The few bullets we find are perfectly mushroomed. I too think the 120 will be very similar. These bullets don't mind speed.
That new rifle looks great. Are you sure about hangin out with Stoney?? lol Good luck to ya'll in Tx.
