Informing you that your information was hacked and they provided you with a PIN to signup for 3 years of credit monitoring.

Not like there's much info in a security clearance background check.

The two times (I know of) my personal info was hacked has been from the Army and from the VA - both times I got three free years of credit checks AND a letter informing me of how important it was to protect my personal info! The first time was 12 years ago and the second time was the famous VA stolen laptop - maybe six years ago now? Haven't had any of my info used yet in a way that has cost me money or legal issues - I'm still waiting.

All of my info is worthy exactly one can of condensed commodity gravy per month.

Yes. Many months ago, and one is directed to another site where he must again enter his vital information. Why is it that OPM could not simply route it over?

Not like there's much info in a security clearance background check. Don't know how much data they digitize, but folks came to our out of the way spot and interviewed everyone in our office that ever interacted with a young lady that used to work with me. I can not think of a single aspect in her life they did not touch on. She was applying for a position that drafts government policy for Pacific rim countries. An extremely intelligent, well read and traveled young lady. A team of three were in our office for three days, I have no idea how many other folks and college mates they spoke with in the community, but I'd rate that investigation as "thorough."

I'm still waiting for mine. Since I'm a contractor I expect it to be a long time before I see it. kwg

I got my "you have new friends" letter from them yesterday.
I'm thinking that it may be possible that each and every person living in a non-3rd world country has access to my complete life history... The "normal" process involved with clearances (SSBI) would spread the info to about 50% and the hackers manage to get it to the other half. The good part is... there is little need for me to provide a lengthy introduction when meeting folks!

Informing you that your information was hacked and they provided you with a PIN to signup for 3 years of credit monitoring. Sign of the times we live in. Cyber buddy expert says your personal data is out there for anyone who is corrupt enough to retrieve. He said "online monitoring" is about as good as it is for now. Also the introduction of the "chipped" CC will help.

Free monitoring gives their sloppy security a free pass?
