Nice shooting, looks like you clipped the spine. I take it there was not much tracking. What was the range..???
Heard from sons today, they took two Mulies near Melrose, MT, one with 6.5/284 and the other with a .243, waiting for pictures.
Had my 250 out last week in North Georgia, but only saw does and they were not open yet.

Frank said he was standing behind a sage brush at about 75 yard so the 87 grainer went through some brush when he shot, the bullet took out about 3" of rib and clipped the lung, ran about 50 yards before expiring

I have not taken anything with my 99A in 250-3000 yet. I have loaded some Hornady 87 gr. and the Sierra 90 gr.BTHP Gameking to about 3000 fps. They group very well. I have also loaded the Sierra 100 gr. Pro Hunter flat base to about 2850 fps and I am torn on which weight to use. The 100 gr Sierra's also group less than MOA for 3 shots at 100yds. The most accurate load to date was with Sierra 100 gr. Matchking's which are not recommended for big game. This gun has a short 20 inch barrel so I am pushing it to get 2850-2900 fps with a 100 grain bullet, but I think that velocity should be fine based on animals I have seen killed with 243's. They advertise the old Hornady light magnum 100 grain .243 at 3000 FPS+ but most achieve 2800-2900 in 22 inch barrels.

cool. Where exactly did he get him. We were gathering cows from the Orderville Gultch Sat. Seen one on the back of a quad, and six or seven gut piles.
