keep in mind, I live in the Rocky Mountains and not Florida!She went 23.5" but can only guess at a weight. I'm thinking about 8ish. I thought my bass season was over so it was a bit of a nice surprise.

That's a good one. Most largemouth of average gerth around 23-24 inches long weight around 6.5#, good one in anyone's book especially up your way.

I was only packing my 5 wt rod. the pond has trout also and that's kinda what I was loaded for.

Very nice! I know 3wt rods have become popular but even with your 5wt I wouldguess you felt like you were bear hunting with a switch.

I do fish my 3 wt a ton. in fact, it has become my go to rod for most of my trout fishing. You can even do fine throwing a strike indicator rig with a bead head nymph just fine if you'll open up your cast a bit.
