That is a great picture.
Brings back memories of me and my brothers and dad and uncle and grandfather.
Thanks for that.
Nuff said.

I wonder what was going through your brother mind as he eyes your buck, "...maybe I should have bought a Savage 99?"

Nice picture!
Mom was the photographer in our family as we grew up and she evidently wasn't prone to take "kill shots".... Lot of kids and dogs pictures!

Simply splendid! Hunting life back in the day. Wish it was still that way. We had so much fun back then and most of that that is now illegal. Imagine riding your bicycle to school with your .22 across your handlebars these days. No, won't get up on my soapbox and do a rant. Time moves on and life changes.

My cut on "time moves on and life changes", because WE let it. There's not a single person that I am around in the course of an "everyday" that doesn't know EXACTLY where I stand. I will go to my grave knowing that everyone knows.

I remember also, back on the late 60's into the 70's when I was younger and we lived on the edge of our small town... I would do exactly what you stated.. put my 22, or pellet/bb gun across the handle bars, or sometimes just open carry it down our back alley out of town down to the local creek bank to spend some time plinking and hope to catch a starling or too.... times sure are different. I hope, in some miraculous way, simpler times may return for another generation to enjoy. dave
