My main hunting rifle is a steyr Pro hunter. This thing is a bit on the heavy side, rifle+scope+sling+loaded mag=14.5 lbs. I don't want to cry like a sissy but I am start to wondering why I didn't just carry my Colt Hbar with me which turn out to be around 10 lbs with everything attached?
How heavy is your daily hunting rilfe? What are the good light weight bolt action rifle options out there?

This yr 6.5bs. Never over 8lbs though.
Plenty of options out there that are under 14.5lbs.

Most of mine are 7 1/4 to 9 lbs. Have a few heavy barrel beanfield rifles that hit 10 to 11 lbs. The more walking I'm going to be doing, the lighter the rifle I'll be carrying. No mountains here in MS so the expense involved in getting significantly below 7lbs just doesn't make much sense for me personally.
As an example of an all-around rifle, I have a new stainless Marlin XS7 7mm-08 with Talleys and a Monarch UCC 3-9x40. I have $450 in the rig and it weighs 7 lbs 9 oz. Shoots easily sub-MOA.
Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.

Good LW hunting rifles? There are a bunch.
The only ones I have fooled with I like are: Kimber Montanas, Sako Finnlites and M-70 FW's [in a LW stock], are all pretty light. Much lighter and I don't shoot them as well, especially off hand.
My main hunting rifle varies depending on the game. For deer and pretty much eveything else, it is the M-70 SS FW. For elk the .338. These are empty weights. The 84L Montana may replace the M-70 but not yet.
.30-06 84L MONTANA, 2.5-8X36L-IRONS-SLING-CUFF, WT; 6#14OZE,
.30-06 M-70 SS FW, 2.5-8X36L-IRONS-SLING-CUFF, WT; 7#14OZE,
.30-06 M-70-SGD-PW, 2-7X33L-IRONS-SLING-CUFF-PEEP, WT; 8#3ZE,
.338WM, M-70-SS-CLS, 2.5-8X36L-IRONS-SLING-CUFF, WT; 8#10OZE,
.375H&H, TALKEETNA, 1.75-6XL-IRONS-SLING-CUFF, WT; 8#14ZE,
I don't use the lightest bases or rings or the weights would be lighter. The SGD is pretty light due to being in a Rimrock stock. I have a FW pre-64 barrel I contemplate putting on it. That would get it well under 8lbs.

This is probably average for me and the rifles I carry regularly.

My main rifle this year weighs 8 lbs 3 oz ready to go.
I like to be around 7 all up, but as long as I'm under 9 I won't complain.

I hunt CO, WY, and TX........and once in Alaska.
My Rem 700 wooden ADL 30-06 with 4 each 180 grain cartridges, sling, and Burris 3-12x weighs in at 9 pounds 6 ounces.
I've used it in that configuration for years.

I have a Weatherby ultralight, I haven't put it on a scale, but adding up the parts it goes right at 7lbs. Which is on the light side, but just about perfect. I could see anything from 7-8lbs being perfect in a standard caliber. It it was a magnum and I wouldn't mind another pound.

My Kimber Montana 308 win is 6 pounds 5 ounces with a heavy 1-6 VX6 scope My M85 Sako Finnlight 260 rem 1.5-5X VX3 with sling and ammo 6 pounds 13 ounces My M85 Sako Finnlight 308 win 3-9 VX2CDS is 7 pounds 1 ounce with ammo and sling My M75 Sako Finnlight 300WSM 1-6 VX6 with sling ammo is 8 pounds 3 ounces
I have heavier, but they may never make it in the woods again. I really like to keep it at 7 pounds and under. The Montana is light and balanced, but I don't like the blind magazine because we have to unload to get in a truck. We probably do 5 drives a day so that becomes a PIA. I like a detachable magazine. So the Montana is a 3rd tier back up even though it is the lightest. 7 pounds is my new normal for the mountains. My 8 pound M75 was one of my lighter go to guns, now it is the heaviest.

7.5 to 8.5, never did like the really light rifles that are so popular here. That, and I feel like I shoot them better if they have a bit more heft.

Unless using my 375 H&H then the rest of my big game rifles I use the most are just under 5 pounds (without ammo) to 6.1 pounds. Used to hunt with heavier rifles but don't miss them.

Just under 7 pounds with ammo and sling. I could make it lighter but have not felt the need to. 700 Ti .308.

My Kimber 308 is right at 6 lbs with scope and mounts, +/- a few oz depending on the scope. All others are 7-7.5 lbs including optics.
I find the 7-7.5 lb weight about perfect. The 6 lb Kimber is a joy to carry and can be amazingly accurate. But it is just too light for an all purpose gun. It has its place where every oz matters.
I don't mind 8 lbs, but over that is just unnecessary weight. I don't shoot a 9-10 lb rifle a bit better than a 7 lb rifle. Get much less than 7 lbs and I have to really concentrate.
