I have decided to start reloading again. Very unsure on a preferred powder. Ideally...the same powder of all calibers I will be loading.
Savage .300 Savage .250 Savage .30-.30 (and Winchester Model 94 .30-.30)
Reloading book shows Hodgdons BL-C (2) okay for all three calibers.
An experienced re-loading opinion on preferred powders would be very much appreciated!

Definitely, ReLoder 15 for the .250 and .300. Might be a stretch for the .30-30 but I'd try it.

+1 on Reloader 15. Unfortunately, in recent years it's been one of the toughest powders to find on dealers' shelves.

Don't ignore good old 3031 and 4064 either.

Thanks for the advice. I'll see if I can find the RL-15. Reviews I read said it was good for 30-30 as well.

RL-15 is good but 4064 is a very versatile powder in range of cartridges and weight of loads. Don't discount IMR 4895 either. Seems to me that RL-15 was meant to be the equivalent of 4064 but in a non stick shaped powder, and thus meter a little easier.

I've got a few pounds of RL15 if you get in a pinch and simply must have some. Be glad to help you out.

Could be my mistake, a bit, but I do think the Reloader series were made to meter easier than IMR powders, which can chop in your measure. For some that's a problem. For others it's not. I'm sure the Reloader series were made for a variety of other reasons too so I don't want to get "shoe horned" onto this being the "end all" answer to everything Reloader.

I'd call it a medium sized stick powder, definitely runs through a powder measure easier than H4895 or Varget. No issue for me as I weigh my rifle loads.

Though I do not load for the cartridges you mention, I load for .257 Roberts & .35 Whelen I have found that IMR 4064 works well in these two and expect it will also work well for the cartridges you mention. I plan to try RL-15 and suggest you should as well, I believe you will be pleased with these two powders.

Don't ignore good old 3031 and 4064 either. I'll second this. Both will work great, and are generally available. Just cause they're old don't mean they won't work.

HiVel #2 and Pyro DG comes to mind also. I wish HiVel powder was still made. If you were wanting to be a smart a$$, you forgot Cordite.
