Ladies and Gents,
Do anyone have a relatively simple sweet and sour sauce recipe? Nothing too fancy but still tastes good?
Appreciate any replies in advance!
Regards

Sorry, yes. Not real sophisticated, but it is simple and what you get at most "Chinese" restaurants.

Exactly what I was looking for...having been to China, "Chinese" here is a joke in the majority of the restaurants.
Thank you for the help!

I used to make a S&S sauce in my restaurants. Used it often for a variety of dishes. basic version is Pineapple juice about a cup vinegar couple tablespoons Soy Sauce just a little Sugar third or half a cup Corn Starch couple of tablespoons, mixed with a little water.
Put everything in a sauce pan, and heat, when simmering, add in the corn starch, and stir until it thickens.

Brown sugar adds a nice mellowness to S&S sauce, and maybe a good dash of worcestershire sauce also helps spice it up a bit.

The way we do it....
Mix:
1/2 cup pineapple juice 1/2 cup white vinegar 1/2 cup ketchup 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (1/4 teaspoon table salt) 4-5 tablespoons brown sugar
Bring to a boil in medium saucepan. Thicken with 2 teaspoons of cornstarch mixed with 1/4 cup of COLD water (mix till ALL cornstarch is blended well with water).

Just remember that the two key ingredients are the sugar and vinegar - for the sweet and sour, respectively.
I'd prefer to use raw cane sugar and rice vinegar to be really authentic. Ketchup isn't authentic, but it does add some extra sweetness and a little body. Bring to a boil, and then adjust consistency with some corn starch/water slurry.

That would be just peachy with grilled peeled shrimp. YUM.
