Looking at 2.5-8 or 3.5-10. I like the eye box on the 3-9s that leupold makes. Are these similar? Weight isn't a concern here. I know it's no super chicken durability wise.

I personally prefer the 3.5-10. IMO, the 3.5-10 is much like the 3-9, but better.

If you like the 3-9 you will really like the 3.5-10.
To me the eye box is even better than the 3-9.
Much prefer the 3.5-10 over the 2.5-8...............

Agree with the opinion on the VX-3 3.5-10x40.

But, the VX-2 3-9x40 is a really good scope, also available with CDS. The new VX-2 series is almost as good as the VX-3, an upgrade over the older series. I don't have one, but mounted a CDS version on a friend's .300 WM. I was impressed by the quality of the glass and the scope in general. Good ER for a gun that kicks.

FWIW, Leupold has a $100 rebate going on for any new VX-3 thru the end of the year.
That would make it a no brainer to me.

Agree with what Dirtfarmer says about the 3-9 VX-2 though..........

I got to compare a 3-9x40 VX-2 I bought from bigwhoop with a friend's 3-9x40 Vari-X yesterday. Big improvements. For one eye relief between low and high magnification varies less with the VX-2. Mounted it this evening on my 9.3x62 M98. Plenty of tube length for e/r adjusting. Probably won't leave it there but will sight it in as an extra for this season.

No reason not to put the 3.5x10x40 on a short action.

Madman,
What are you putting it on? What are you using it for?

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

I have a VX-3 in 2.5x8 made in 2013 from 24HCF for $360
I have a VX-3 in 3.5x10 made in 2013 from ebay for $408
I have a VX-3 in 3.5x10 made in 2013 from ebay for $455

I have mounted the second one. Last month I shot a deer running at 250 yards. Any of the scopes would have worked.
