An ordinary man would be better off walking to camp.

Good luck tzone, ND and crew! Thanks guys for thoughts and prayers, we had the funeral today and everybody is drained so hopefully some relaxing tomorrow. Back to work will be different for sure on Monday since my Fil was my boss and part owner of the company I work for. Great stories CFT and GG. My Grandpa was my mentor on hunting and panfishing. He deer hunted till He was 86, drove up to hang out for 2 more years after that, on the night of opener to hang out with us. He's in full time care now and turns 96 this coming January. The few times a year I get to drive out to see him, I always look forward to sitting with him and listening to his hunting stories just like when I was a young kid.

Best of luck to everyone, I wanna see some "As they lay" shots this year instead of the fuzzy windchime ones. Make that happen!

I shot a duck last night. Really, I did. Jumped a pond just before the freeze up and Mr. Greenhead took a bad route out of there for his sake. However, I did have to break ice in the waders to go get him. Buddies old lab just looked at me with a look that said, "No way I am going out there"!

like this one from last sunday afternoon?

I walked out to the tree I was going to sit at and this guy blew out of a small stand of cedars, down the ravine and half way up the other side. he stopped to look back, I had him in my sights when he stopped. pulled the trigger and *click*. crap, forgot to put a round in when I got out of the truck, rookie move. I cycle the bolt and he turns his head about to leave. all I had was the top of his neck and his head to shoot at without ruining a bunch of meat, so I put on the base of his head and hit a 1/2" high square between the base of his ears, down he goes like a sack of spuds. it would be a great hide to tan, no holes! but it means I'm done deer hunting for a week and a half til muzzleloader season. good luck to all those still chasing deers!

Congratulations to all of the successful hunters.
Good luck to those still in pursuit.

The first one was about 90 yards from the stand. The second buck from the same stand at 50 yards. The doe at 15 yards. All were bang flops.

Great job done by Mr. Noah..

Now keep it up and get some more..

Bucks from this stand.

Congrats to Noah! Meat in the freezer. I never saw a deer today. One curious little fox that visited me twice. Both times he got down wind of me and took off like someone shot him out of a cannon. 'Managed to have a chickadee land on my gun barrel briefly as the "deer birds" worked through the woods.
