I don't like a lot of the new so called country music. I don't hate on it, but don't want to listen to it. I don't mind some modern takes on country, but I really dislike the 'hip hop' influence.
I like this guy from Canada a lot, though. Dudes name is Gord Bamford and I like everything I've heard from him so far. It's good to hear a 'real' voice in country even if it's not truly traditional. The second video below is a little more traditional, but the first one has been stuck in my head for days.

Another real good one is Corb Lund. He is from Taber Alberta, roughly an hour from my place.
Checkout Paul Brandt. Another Albertan. Started out life as a Pediatric ICU nurse in Calgary. Used to sing to the kids to help them settle down. Country style healing goes a long way!
Yep, Gord has a nice sound. Local boy from here. My buddy taught him in high school. All he wanted to do was sing. Buddy`s son is his manager. He`s a real family man as well.
