Not to get shot for blasphemy :-) But have the option for either here. The Savage is a 99c circa 1970. Price is $1500.00.

I am uncertain, but know I want to move to a lever.

Not even new-in-box, with original sales receipt sold to your mother, and a lock of Ron Coburn's hair, would it be worth $1500...half that would be too expensive.

Hold out for a clean one south of $600, same for a BLR..but I'd prefer the 99C over the BLR in 308, just my personal preference.

A NIB 99C isn't one to buy for hunting. And an unfired 99C is simply a high condition 99C - unfired is unprovable.

I agree kind of with JeffG, if you're looking for a good hunting 99C you should be able to find a very nice one for $700'ish and under.


But if you do find any NIB 99C's for $750 let me know...

I'd go 99C. But not at that price.

The BLR has a hammer. If I want a hammer I'll go to the tool shed, not the gun store. If it can't be had in a 99, such as a .357 magnum, then fine, buy a gun with a hammer if only because Savage let you down and left you no choice. Otherwise, shoot a 99.

Anyone selling that pristine 99c in 308 :-) Send me pics if so.
