I think the Glock 19 is in a class all by itself.
OMMV, Birdwatcher I hear that all the time. I used to have a gen one Glock 19 that I bought soon as it was introduced. Wish I never sold it now, but currently I carry a Glock 17 gen four, and don't feel at all compelled to replace it with a 19. What's the magic that makes the 19 so much better than the 17? A fraction of an inch in grip and slide length? An ounce or two of weight? I don't get it. Why give up the extra sight radius and mag capacity?

I suspect it's a "Govt vs Commander" type of thing for a lot of people.

I suspect it's a "Govt vs Commander" type of thing for a lot of people. Likely, but there was more difference between the Government Model and the Commander, in that the Commander had an aluminum frame vs steel. Not nearly that degree of difference between the 17 and the 19. I must admit, though, that when I first went to buy a Glock (around when the 19 first appeared), the look of the 19 drew me to it more so than did the 17. I was falling for the "smaller means better" thing, I guess. In real terms, there's no noticeable advantage to the 19 vs the 17 that I can determine. Not in concealability, weight, shootability, nothing, but you do lose a little in capacity and sight radius. I think the preference people have for the 19 is esthetic.

The whole 9mm vs 40 vs 45 vs 38 vs 357 vs whatthefuckever is just picking flyshit out of pepper.
Don't matter to me what the FBI or anybody else uses , they can shoot spitballs outta soda straws if they wanna.
Mike Exactly. But, Take a cue from the experts -- Do the world a favor, don't ever carry anything bigger than a 9mm - you don't "need" it. Women should take Judo lessons and carry a whistle.

How often does aFBI agent draw a weapon?
Ordinary LEO risks life and limb with every routine traffic stop
Aside from a few unit that do serious work, I understand that an FBI agent's morning commute is the riskiest part of the day.

LEOs are at increased risk of suicide and divorce.
If I were an LEO, I would be tempted to arrest my wife. As it is, suicide is my only alternative.

This is why I love the Hunter's Campfire. If this discussion were going on in the Handguns forum, not only would little or no useful information be exchanged, but several lifelong vendettas would have been started and/or extended by page 3, and by the time we'd got here to page 12 it'd be pretty much batschit crazy.
Oh, wait...
Gotta love arguments on th' innanet.

The report also concluded "one shot stops" based on caliber of the pistol are a myth.
Whatever that's worth to you.

I know of one very respectable gentleman on this forum who carries a S&W Mountain Gun for his CCW. Seems some aren't bothered with it. Some aren't bothered by have a fist shoved up their ass either.Travis How do you know that? From shoving my fist up the asses of willing participants. Duh. Travis Damn...I don't believe I would've told that!

I'm pretty sure I've read that two 45 caliber holes in a trash can near the perp is more likely to stop them than a 9mm doubletap to the chest. I read that too,but it also said the perp had to be no further than five feet from the can.

I've used a 9mm a bunch to kill critters, largest being a black bear..I always have wondered where all the debate came from. its a fine round.
No, i've never killed a human with one, fwiw. I killed a good sized hog with a standard pressure 124 JHP and he went down just fine.

You have to admit, the FBI is pretty stupid when they have such a knowledgeable resource as the Campfire and never come here to find out how it should be done...
Snicker... I bet I know what that Snicker is about.

In the handgun cartridge realm, more people have been killed by 9mm.I think it's because it has been used by more countries through out the world than any other?
