Since I have to seat the bullet so it fits the clip rather than measuring against the lands, how much should I trim a fired brass? I'm trimming to listed trimmed case length,2.484. (30/06) How much of the neck should I resize? I don't need to resize at all for the fired case to fit. I currently have 3.298 to 3.304 COL. This just fits the clip and feeds and ejects properly. Listed max COL is 3.340.

You can get away with any length under the Max allowed length.

It sounds like you are loading for a semi-auto so I would full length resize.

Mike

Savage Super Sporter mdl 40/45 bolt. (1928 to 1941) One rifle needs full length sizing, the other 3 don't.

Ahh...for bolt guns I just screw the die down and size until I can close the bolt on the case with minimal resistance.

It takes a little time lubing, sizing, wiping, testing, re-lubing,resisizing,retesting, but I don't worry about overworking the brass that way..

Mike
