Nice rifles Taylorce1. I like the Mcmillan Hunters compact the most right now, however the Brown precision AKA Brown poundr I have on my 338 is working out nicely:
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

My Penrod built Model 70 is in an Echols Legend McMillan stock and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Agreed with Pathfinder and BSA - here is my work in progress, just got the bolt handle back from being reshaped and checkered and next is some shooting, maybe a PA deer hunt and then off for Black T to finish it all off. To the OP... I'd grab a McM Compact or Hunter pattern for an IN deer stand gun. But if the expense, wait, and ergos are right the Legend can't be beat.

The Legend can't be beat. Agreed. I've had a couple Win stocks I didn't care for, including a McM Hunter's Edge. Just something about it I didn't care for. But I have held a Win 70 in a Legend, and that thing was about perfect. I believe it was Edge shell, standard fill, paired with a 300 Weatherby.

Thanks Clancy, It is a Lilja #2 w/ a about a 1.25" shank cut at 23" With the aluminum PT&G bottom metal it weighs in at 7.5lbs with a 6x36 on top. Just about perfect. I'll see if I can grab a few more pics for you. Another rifle or two to look at (as I did) is: "Handwerk"'s 300 H&H in the Blueprints Only thread and BobinNH's 7mm MSM in the Gene Simillion Rifles - thread.

Most interested in a top view of the barrel in the stock.

I'm picturing my 338 in that stock. I'm a little hesitant though because of the right hand cast off on the echols legends. Not good for a left hand shooter..

I know EricM is getting his rifle in a few days, after patiently waiting for Gene to finish it up... I can't wait to see the end product..

They make them also in left hand.

They make them also in left hand. Yes, I've been considering that. The only problem with that is you put a left hand stock on a right hand rifle and it's damn near impossible to sell..
