1954 EG in .300 Savage, of course. It's possible it might never have been shot, ever. Now it wears a Lyman All American 4X pre Permacenter scope with Savage marked Lyman Tru Lock bases and rings It's time this Savage gets shot. (P.S., hunting is not my thing, but I can't say that this rifle does not tempt me.)

That is a great looking setup. If you ever needed a reason to start hunting, this might be it.

It's Savage and Lyman all the way with that 99. Very classy looking set up you have there.

That's about as good as it gets!! Time to take it to the woods and sit a spell. Enjoy the solitude with nature! Sanity maintenance.

Two more things The rings are marked Savage, not the bases. I much prefer the look of the pre-Permacenter Lyman scopes. IMHO the white lettering on the Permacenter saddle is not attractive. And two more photos:

That is a beauty.
Does an EG have cut checkering on the buttstock and pressed on the fore? or is the checkering supposed to match?

The high tech photo of the top of the receiver is the Gunbroker photo I posted earlier.
The Lyman Tru Lock bases were hard to find, but they fit well, installed easy and give enough clearance so that the rear leaf sight could stay put.
This is fun.
