Just saw an original mountain rifle in 257 Roberts today with a 3x9 Leupold Rifleman scope. All in nice condition. What is the general going rate these days?
Is $1100 too much?

I sold two Remington 700 Classics in .257 Roberts a year or so ago. Pretty much for what I paid.....in the $750-$800 range. They were in excellent shape(like new),with decent figure for a 700. I would consider the 700 Mountain Rifle more desirable myself, so it if in excellent shape is worth at least what the classics are going for. Might add that classics in excellent shape on Gun Broker, Cabelas Gun Library usually are listed in the $900-$999 range.

Not sure what the bases, rings and Leupold scope is worth as I'm not a Leupold guy, but obviously have value. I guess it comes down to what is it worth to you. That caliber in that configuration is hard to come by, and usually not pristine.

Too me if it floated my boat, I would not hesitate to pay a resonable premium above what others might go for. Life's too short to keep looking for what you may or may not find.

It'll sell, somebody will snatch that up for that price.

TJ,
If it is the one that is located in a pawn shop in central MO, it has several small usage marks and has lost most of its collector value in my opinion. Nice rifle, but not $1100 nice. Just my opinion, and it may be a totally different one.

Thanks all,, And Crappie Killer, it may be the same one. I would want it as a user so the collector status does not really matter. But it is a little pricy for a user.
HOWEVER,, I have been wanting a shortaction BOB for AWHILE now. May have to take another look at it. Just a quick look today so I wasn't too tempted. Ha Ha.
Where you from Crappie Killer? I am just 15 miles north of that pawn shop.

Yeah, I have dealt with them a fair amount as well. They came down from 1295.00 without me even asking.
With all that said, I may have found a better deal. I'll keep ya posted if it turns out.
