Anyone using a 6.5X47 Lapua with a suppressor with a 20-22 inch barrel ? What kind of velocity's are you getting ? Thinking of building one to hunt with , and was just curios on a couple of things.

Watch some episodes of the Fieldsports Channel on Youtube. "Moderators" are commonly used in Britain in settled areas to avoid upsetting the locals. Roy Lupton uses a moderated .243 for whacking the numerous exotic deer species to be found. Not silent, of course, but quiet.

Ran a 6.5x47 with a 22" barrel for a while.... and it ran about 40-70fps slower than my 20" .260 with the same bullets. Never shot it suppressed, but I've shot a bunch of 123s in the 20" .260 through the suppressor. With the 9" suppressor attached, the rifle is just under 50" overall length... and isn't unwieldy in any way.

My 20" .260s will net about 2850 with 123s and 2725 with 140s....

I have access to a 6.5 X47 Lapua reamer , and am currently hunting with a 6X47 Lapua in the fields and 7 mm 08 in the woods. Was thinking a 6.5 would fill the bill for both and suppressed would make it that much more fun. If a 120-130 gr bullet can run 2800 or close to it that would do it all.

Dogshooter,

If you don't mind me asking, what suppressor are you using? Looking at cutting my .260 non typical down and putting one on it.

Not what your asking, but I have a 20" 6x47 Lapua I'm running with a can and will have Beanland build me a 6.5x47 20" in 2016

Kimber..... I'm running a Suppressed Armament Systems Ti Arbiter. It's a fairly hefty .30 cal can at 9"/14oz.... but it works really well as you could hear, or more aptly, not hear in the video.

As far as cans go.... that's a Ford/Chevy/Dodge thing.... they all seem to work pretty well, it just depends on the application and personal preferences.

I'm fixing to shoot some loads through the 22" .260.... then chop it to 16" to see what velocity is actually lost with the same loads. A couple guys on the hide built a few 16" Creeds, they got 2750 with 123 Scenars. If I can still keep 123s north of 2750 at 16" (or 140s at 2600+).... I'll probably build a gun specifically for that purpose. Seems like a 16" suppressed 7/08 flinging 162s at 2600 would be pretty bad ass too....

Almost...

It's a 260. Should be very near identical performance-wise. I'm pushing a 127 LRX @ 2920 from a 22" barrel with a TBAC can.

I run a 24" Bartlein in 6.5x47, 123 SMK's, Varget, Wolf Primers, Thunderbeast 30p1, and I am at 2970 with room to spare. I'd expect 10-30 FPS difference to go 20-22".

Easily, the most accurate rifle I've ever owned, and the recoil with the suppressor is like a .22 long rifle. Love it.

Thanks guys. I was looking at the Ultra9" model. Direct connection or quick coupler?

I prefer the direct connect. All I need is a threaded barrel to attach it to a rifle.... rather than an additional $75-$100 connector for each gun I want to shoot the can on.
