Wondering what is a fair price for this gun. Local dealer around here has a Model 70 classic synthetic stainless, New Haven made, 300 wsm. Gun was sold by him and first owner shot it very little, too much gun, and traded it back in. Gun seems to be in great condition. Dealer is asking 1k for bare rifle. Seems high to me but IDK. Thoughts?

The Classics are becoming more popular, I often see them bring more than common pre-64's. $1,000 is a little too high, but I've seen good ones go for $700-$800. There is one exactly like that priced at $850 locally, could probably get it for under $800.
If it is in good shape it is every bit as good as a current production 70 EW and with the advantage of the old style 70 trigger. Those sell for $1,000+.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

Too high in my opinion. Hell, I would sell mine with factory tupperwear, Hogue and B&C stock for that.

Where can a stainless M70 be had for $600? The last SS M70 Classic .30-06 I bought was $450 on GB with an old Burris Fullfield scope on it three years ago. It had surface rust all over it and more than a few views, and thank god it was rusty or else the price would have been much higher. It took me almost 2.5 years of looking to find one that cheap for a donor, it's all in how much patients you have and being in the right place at the right time.

Bought a M70 Classic stainless 300 win mag in the classifieds couple months ago for 650.00. 1K is a little steep in my opinion.

Thoughts? Way too high, especially considering the wsm's were built at the end of USRAC's reign and QC was going down hill faster than a freight train that lost its brakes... I've seen some of the WSM's sell for $550.00 in that configuration, but on GB it would probably go for around $625.00 if lucky... I'd steer clear of that gunshop. Looks like the owner wants to bend you over the counter and he probably won't use vasaline....
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

That gun shop guy is smoking dope $550-$625 for one in any of wsm to include the wssm's also alot of guys around here get a little crazy with their prices as well. I don't say anything but the only ones that demand anything over $700 bucks are the 300 rums, 300 weatherby, 06 and 270. But the short mags and 7 mag, 300 win mag and 338 $550-$625 maybe $650 if it's a 5 digit 😁. Last year I sold a beauty of a stainless featherweight in a 300 wsm for $675 but that included the background fees in Colorado.
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

Where can a stainless M70 be had for $600? I bought a SS classic 30-06 unfired for $600 two months ago. I keep an eye on forums where members are so focused on AR's and other "tactical" stuff that once in a while a gem like that will pop up for a good price.

The guy had a SC made super grade on the shelf that he was asking 30-40 bucks more than MSRP for. I pointed it out to him and he said he would drop to Winchester MSRP. Ha! Forget it.

I've seen NIB Stainless Classics in the WSM calibers at local gunshows for $800. Later New Haven guns can be a real crapshoot. I've seen a couple that had egg shaped chambers. They fired factory loads just fine but you couldn't reload for them.

If anyone has a five digit classic stainless featherweight in .30-06 they'd like to sell, shoot me a PM. I'd like to add it to the .308 and .300 Win Mag I have in the safe.

I recently bought two NIB Model 70 FW's. One in 7-08 and the other in 270 Win for $450 each. They are walnut/blued rifles, but a new or used New Haven stainless rifle doesn't fetch and extra $200 where I live.
It's official. I missed the selfie deadline so I'm Maser's sock puppet because rene and the Polish half of the fubar twins have decided that I am.
