Have an OEM1 on the way that I'm going to need to finish up but I'm about as ignorant as it gets. I'm looking at the Magpul stuff. Good enough or should I be looking elsewhere?

I'd put a float tube/rail on it.

I personally hate the magpul handguards. I like their stocks and grips a lot though.

does somebody sell a direct replacement for the gas block/front sight? I'd prefer a front sight that folds down.

I think RR has a folding sight/gas block.

Magpul has some decent stuff that's affordable. I recently got some Daniel Defense furniture. I like the soft padded texture.

Not furniture, per se. But, I picked up a few extra DD FVG's for $7/ea here. With shipping, came to $11-12/ea. http://www.anacortesgunshop.com/vertical-foregrip-121411Other online sellers had them as high as $60-70. Crazy.

Already have an 6920 but I've recently picked up an Colt lightweight LE carbine. The one with the light pencil barrel. It will get the same upgrade my 6920 did.
Theres no need for free floated hand guards on the 6920 or removing the front sight gas block. Just get an quality and affordable handguard like the AB Arms and add one small pic segment for attaching an light and an new grip for the lower. Next you might want an trigger upgrade and maybe an ambi safety selector. That really all that needs done.

A better way would be to cut off the tower, grind and paint or reparkerize and have a great pinned gas block. Hide it under a long free float hand guard and install a good flip up sight. No way I'd replace a pinned gas block for any of the set screw versions.

Wouldn't sit stable on the rear bag. (That was during our 10 shots at 100 yard challenge)
And has a slight amount of slop to it. The Magpuls adjust, then you can lock in place, less slop. YMMV, of course.
