Unless your bases are bedded/pinned/milled into the receiver.... you're still relying on friction.
On the suggestion of said Leupold "fan boy", I took it home and JB Welded the bases to the receiver... same Talleys, same scope. After that, I don't remember ever having to re-zero it. Good move. Had a lightweight 7 mag that I epoxy'd the bases. The system held zero until the barrel was cooked.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

The best thing to come out of this is some good buys when people dump their Leupolds......

If you don't dial- Leupolds work about as well as most better scopes. If you dial- choose scopes that have consistently proven to work. Yep - scope adjusters didn't evolve from micrometers... BTW -- for JeffO (JAFO or whatever)... Air Force guys believe in engaging a target beyond the other persons effective range... I think the other branches stole that from us flyboys, and it's why they call us prop heads - especially when we out shoot'em when they didn't expect it. That being said - if you are shooting game beyond their range that they can sense it then me dropping a guided arrow from a plane is hunting... WTF .... Pretty sure hunting is a sport. - war is not. - so don't call shooting something beyond the range it can sense you hunting... Spot

Travis This∆∆∆ I was reading some thread earlier where a guy "didn't think he owned a rifle that hadn't flown out of a moving vehicle at least once" For Christ's sake. The level of one-up-manship has reached a fever pitch around here. Get [bleep] real. I take better care of my digging bar than that. It's a god damn rifle and optic not a Cat D10

I've called elk in to a foot in front of me and I could have killed them with an axe.
They weren't aware of me til I wanted them to be. All this time I thought I was hunting. Thanks for bursting my bubble.
LOL

LOL Now if you had farted loud, I'm pretty sure the elk would have heard it ... Funny [bleep] (sorry for the pun) - had a deer do the same getting about 3 feet from me last year, so I farted... Well because I had to - Damn funny, his eyeballs got all squirrelly... I couldn't keep from laughin' out loud at him as he half ran half trotted off... Kind of all freaked out. - now if someone can't say something smart here I'll be deeply disappointed.

They stood 15' away and watched me the whole time. She was like "oh, I hope we see one!!" Yup baby girl, I guarantee it....

I agree this thread was started with bad intentions from the start.
Leupold has over 50% of the scope market. So I suppose they will have some problems along the way.
The high end boys can bitch and say how good their scopes are. Let them cry and complain against the market leader.
The vast majority of scope users including most all Leupold users will just carry on in happiness.

I had a Supper Sniper 3-9 on my .260 that tended to wander a bit. One day, in the presence of one of the Leupold defenders on this post, it fell over while it was leaning on the tailgate. It wasn't on paper after the fall. On the suggestion of said Leupold "fan boy", I took it home and JB Welded the bases to the receiver... same Talleys, same scope. After that, I don't remember ever having to re-zero it. Frickin Leupold fanboys. Mounts shifting on the receiver happens a bunch.
