As a Born Again Baptisted Christian I too believe your Dad is indeed in Heaven. Earth is temporary, Heaven is forever.
I am a retired alcohol/drug councelor. Addiction is a tough thing for most to overcome. Some addicts I am personally aware of (my wife included) do recover and remain clean. This is the hope yout Dad saw. He held to this hope. We all should. Hope is a good thing.

The sickest part about it is that most cons would just move on knowing they've been made. Mark is known around here and yet still tries this sorta thing. I've got no sympathy for the guy, only pity. A pity party beats no party at all...

He's probably trying to spin this story in an attempt to collected on dad ADD policy. If we are lucky, the Feds will come collect him up for attempted insurance fraud, and we'll be done with him.
