A father's passing is a seriously traumatic event for a son. Mine has been gone for 30 years but I can recall how it affected me, even though a fairly significant level of animosity existed between myself and my father.
,...but I don't know what to think about how this has been presented.
It seems totally bizarre.

He's probably trying to spin this story in an attempt to collected on dad ADD policy. If we are lucky, the Feds will come collect him up for attempted insurance fraud, and we'll be done with him. I only skimmed through the original posting.
Smelled pretty fishy but I couldn't help but notice how much SM thrust himself into the story as the center of attention. Regardless of how the guy died, SM couldn't help but make it about himself. Un-fricken-believable.

As a Born Again Baptisted Christian I too believe your Dad is indeed in Heaven. Earth is temporary, Heaven is forever.
I am a retired alcohol/drug councelor. Addiction is a tough thing for most to overcome. Some addicts I am personally aware of (my wife included) do recover and remain clean. This is the hope yout Dad saw. He held to this hope. We all should. Hope is a good thing.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your's. Are you daft? Byron Claiborne was a Christian that preyed on and sexually harassed women tenants. Byron being devoted to helping alcohol/drug addicts get clean is a falsehood told by Mark.

I've been to his dads house a few times & while he did have others living in his house, I really don't know if they had "problems"... If he made up this story about his dad, it'll be one of the most bizarre things I've witnessed from anybody I've ever known...
