I purchased a new pr of Zeiss 10x42 SFs this summer and I find myself reaching for those almost all of the time. I specifically bought them for an elk hunt in CO where the extra power came in handy. But now back home in MN, in the woods, looking across cuts, and even in the farm land, I am still using them over the Leicas. Example, I was in the treestand with the 7x42s and spotting a buck across the ravine making his way through the woods. Only 100 yards away but a lot in between us. As I'm watching him I thought I wish I had my Zeiss because I'd be able to see his antlers and judge him much better than I can right now. It would seem almost sacrelig to get rid of 7x42s living in Minnesota but if they are collecting dust, what's the point of keeping them? Anyone else experienced this before?

I find that I always (eventually) find a time and place for good optics, even if they are not my first pick.

Unless you need to sell them, I would hold on to them. I'm betting a time will come in the future that you will be glad you had them. Dusty or not.

You've only got to please you. If the 10x's are what you feel you'll use, use the 10x and peddle the 7x.

I find the 6x and 7x's quite superior when scanning brush/woods.
If most of your viewing is with the nekkid eye and using the 10x to have a closer look, that's a bit of a different application and the 10x makes some sense.

This is my take. I would say that my 7X42s gather dust for 75% of my hunting; but, they are superior for that other 25%.

Absolutely keep the Leica 7X42. I'll add that you might not like to write that check again in the future when you need a tool you once owned.

I generally use my Zeiss 8x45 with the rangefinder, but I just can't bring myself to sell the 7x42 Leica's.
