To get similar optical performance with somethin /8 mm or smaller you would have to lower the magnification as well, a 5x/5 for example. Nobody really makes a good quality 5x25 and anything higher in magnification while still maintaining the 25-28 mm objective isn't going to be as bright or as relaxed of a view.

If you throw the roof prism design into the mix them it becomes even harder to maintain image quality in this configuration and price point.

I;d be tickled with a little 5x25 compact, and I imagine a few bow hunters and lepidopteran-enthusiasts would agree!

(Thanks Frank)

Well Crockett I did some googling and it appears several companies are selling 5x25 roofs, or one company is making them and several are rebadging them. Take a gander......

If it wasn't Christmas time and subsequently i wasn't financially challenged then I would order a pair.

It seems the folks over on cloudy nights like them well enough.

Pretty much made up my mind Im not going to buy anything until I look through them. The local gander mountain didnt have the compact Nikon I was looking for, have to wait for a trip to Cabelas I guess. I was overall impressed with the Nikon's though, their monarch 5 or 6 I looked through was better to my eyes that the Zeiss they had.
