Picked up right before Christmas. Not sure if I will hang onto it and move my .250 takedown which has been molested. Leaning toward keeping .250 so I need you guys to please critique this regarding condition and what it is worth. I think it is all original but you would know that. Only keeping one. I met a fellow recently who indicated that he would be interested but I do not know what I have or how much to ask for it. View photos here Thanks a lot and Happy Holidays, Smiley

Don't have a good $ figure to offer. I just know I want one pretty bad.

Looks like a honest rifle with a few handling marks. I know I'd be pretty happy to find it if I didn't already have one. I don't know what your 250 looks like but you said it was molested and 243 premills don't come along every day. I paid $725 for mine in 2012 and felt it was a good deal. I'm not much help but your F is a nice rifle. You could keep them both and remove all the stress of which one to keep.

Lee is right. Keep them both.

Keep them both is the only correct answer. The 99 in 250 is classic, the 243 is destined to become classic

Molested 250's are common, unmolested premil 243F's are not. Keep the .243 and dump the 250. 243 will outperform the 250 and is easier to find ammo for.

I was wondering what the number 2 under Savage 99 is or means. I don't recall seeing that on some of the other rifles I have handled. Does is pertain to anything?

Its an assembly stamp or inspector stamp.
Keep the F is my vote.

keep them both and hunt them this coming year. One will speak to you. Cash out on the other, if you have to.

no 99 should be alone in the safe, keep them both. that is a nice F.

What's not to love? It's an older 99 with honest wear and tear, and the stock's not even cracked.
