I was just wondering what everyone's favorite magazines were for shooting, especially for hunting rifles? I used to subscribe to Rifle when JB was editing but have gone to just buying an issue if I like it.
What is you favorite current rifle magazine and why?
Thanks,
Jed

I read only two magazines Rifle and Handloader. So I'll venture Rifle.

If you want to read about AR platforms, stainless steel guns and plastic stocks, take your pick, every magazine has them covered...

Dont really buy dedicated gun magazines anymore. I do buy various predator and varmint hunting magazines, and those contain articles and reviewa of the kinds of guns and shooting I am most interested in.

Only get the Rifleman and American Hunter with the life memberships.

The internet forums have replaced them.

Same with the car and sailing magazines.

I no longer subscribe to gun related rags for reasons mentioned elsewhere. I do subscribe to a few auto/hot rod-like rags.

The only shooting magazine I get is American Hunter and get that only because I have been an NRA Life Member since I was 18 years old. AH is kind of a rag and wouldn't pay for it. As for the others I go to the book store once a month and look at Rifle and Handloader and anything else that has items of interest on the cover. If there are interesting articles I buy the magazine, if not I put it back on the shelf. Seems anymore I only find interesting stuff a couple of times a year or so. Not worth paying for a year's subscription. Before I retired the guys at work always brought their outdoor magazines to work and put them in a file cabinet. You could read just about every gun mag out there and back issues didn't lay around the guys houses cluttering up the place. Same thing with reloading manuals amoungst the group we had nearly all the loading manuals. Easy to borrow what you wanted and make a copy of the info you needed. I put copies of info from the manuals and magazines in caliber specific ring binders that I keep under my reloading bench. Saves space and I just grab the ring binder no need to have to hunt for info amoungst many sources.
