Needing a little help with a Savage 99 question. My dad called and has a neighbor with a 99C Series A in .308 that he has offered to sell him for $700. Dad shot it out back yesterday and said it was slick (of course), and the checkering and bluing was around 90%. He said based on what he could find from the serial that it was a mid 60s production. I have always wanted one in good condition in .308 and told him to jump on it. Was I wrong? Seems like I see those beat all to crap at gun shows in the older variations for over $1,000 so $700 seems like a deal. What do I tell dad?

Suggest that you post this on the Savage Collectors section on this forum. You'll get a lot of opinions.
