Most of you here shoot the 99 and although mine is newer and not as popular, I'm shooting a 1966 99C in 308 and trying to dial in a load is getting me frustrated. I can't find an acurrate load for these rifles. I want to use a 150 or 168 Nosler Balistic SilverTip bullet. The factory rounds shoot quite well, but I'm having trouble finding a powder / primer combo to get consistant accuracy at 200 yds. Any suggestions? What do you load for yours?
Thanks.

I've had the same experience with my 99 F in .308. I used 150 grain Hornadys with IMR4895, 4320 and 4350 with no luck. I tried 165 grain Hornadys with IMR 4064 and got fairly consistent results. I am still working up that load.

Terry,

I've had good luck with 4064 and 3031 with 165 grain bullets. My favorite load is 43.0/4064 and a 165 Nosler - Partition for Elk, and a Ballistic Tip for Deer/Antelope.

Gary

Thanks. I've got several loads I'm going out to the range with tomorrow. I tried some factory Winchester Supreme silvertips today and got real good groups. Now if I can find a similar hand load, we'll be ok. I'l post if I find one that works.
